In their 2007 report of Construction and the Environment, the Australian Bureau of Statistics states that, on average, one tonne of solid waste per person per year is sent to landfill. Construction and demolition companies contribute to about 30 – 40 % of this – that’s about 8 million tonnes nationwide. The worse offenders are in Inner Sydney where 60% of waste sent to landfill is the result of construction and demolition businesses.

At 1300Rubbish, we can help reduce the amount sent to landfill with our new Gyprock Recycling Service.

When 95% of the Australian public are recycling their general household waste such as cardboard, paper and plastics, it’s about time large commercial companies began taking responsibility for recycling at least some of the waste that they accrue. 20,000 tonnes of gypsum board waste is put into landfill in Sydney alone and, when you consider that Gyprock is 100% recyclable, this is 20,000 tonnes too much.

Globally, 80 million tonnes of plasterboard or drywall is produced every year resulting in 15 million tonnes of easily recycled waste taking up valuable landfill space all around the world. 94% of gypsum board can be broken down into gypsum powder which is then send back to manufacturers to create more material and 6% of the recycled gyprock is paper, which can be used in various industries. With such a simple recycling process, there really is no excuse for businesses to continue sending such waste to landfill.

What is wrong with sending Gyprock to landfill?

Our overuse of landfill facilities is something which will haunt future generations and, whilst environmental activists have been campaigning for decades, it’s only been in the last decade that governments appear to have realised its impact. Not only does it contaminate land that could be used for other purposes, but it allows hazardous chemicals to seep into the atmosphere. By sending goods to landfill without careful consideration, we are also wasting natural, non-renewable resources that could be recycled. Gyprock can safely be 100% recycled, but when sent to landfill it produces hydrogen sulphide – a poisonous, flammable gas that can easily be avoided.

1300Rubbish can now help you recycle your gyprock and plasterboard.

By recycling Gyprock we can help the gypsum industry recover their high quality materials whilst keeping prices low. With governments and councils constantly increasing tipping fees, recycling has actually become a cheaper way to dispose of your gyprock, as well as promoting your company as being environmentally friendly.

At 1300 Rubbish, we try and recycle all rubbish we collect where possible, but recycling your gyprock couldn’t be easier. We will come and collect your gyprock and transport it directly to a recycling centre where we guarantee that it will be 100% recycled. For more information, you can contact our friendly customer service team on 1300 78 22 47; they will be happy to answer any questions you might have and provide you with an obligation free quote.

You’ve stripped out your house and it sold almost immediately; you’ve even been lucky enough to find your perfect home too. It would be easy to believe that the hard part’s over. Think again – your challenges have only just begun.

Research shows that moving house is up there with bereavement and divorce when it comes to stress levels, so 1300 Rubbish has come up with a check list to make sure that you’ve all bases covered before your move.

1. Book your removalists, cleaners and rubbish removal early.

Once you have a moving date set in stone, book any services you may need. That way you can coordinate arrival times to ensure that you don’t end up with a house packed with workers falling over themselves. Removalists should be booked first to remove your belongings, and then you can arrange a rubbish removal company to collect any rubbish that’s left over. At 1300 Rubbish, we book rubbish removal jobs in two hour time slots and will call you 20 minutes prior to arrival so that you don’t have to hang around all day. Finally, organising cleaners can take a huge load off your mind and make sure that the house is sparkling for its new owners or for the landlord inspection.

2. Contact your utility companies and tell them that you are moving house.

Some internet and phone companies require notice to cancel certain services so make sure you notify them in advance so that you don’t get hit with extra charges. You’ll also want to update your contact details too for your bank and credit cards and organise for your mail to be redirected.

3. Start packing early – you’ll probably find more rubbish to be removed.

Give yourself plenty of time to pack your belongings; we suggest starting at least two weeks before Moving Day. Consider packing as a second chance to clear out all your unwanted rubbish – you’re sure to uncover even more junk that you don’t need when packing up cupboards, drawers and the attic. 1300 Rubbish remove all size loads, so even if you don’t have a huge amount of rubbish we can still help – no job is too small.

4. Look after your pets when moving house – they get stressed too.

Keep pets out of the house on moving day if possible, not only will they be getting in the way of removal men carrying heavy boxes, but they are likely to get spooked by all the commotion. Ask a friend if they can look after your pet for a few days while you move.

5. Defrost your freezer, clear out the fridge and organise your electronic waste.

Whether you are leaving your fridge and freezer for the new occupants or taking them to your new home, make sure they are defrosted and clean. Many people, however, decide that moving house is a good time to upgrade their white goods so you may want to dispose of these items before you move. 1800 Ewaste offers an electronic waste collection service, and will come to your home and collect any ewaste you may want to get rid of – from dishwashers to computers. It will then be taken to a private recycling facility where it is stripped down to its core components; not only are you getting rid of your electronic waste easily, but you are also helping to divert hazardous waste from landfill.

6. Keep Organised.

As long as you keep on top of situations, your move can be stress-free and easy. Pack a bag of essentials for the last few days before your move, that way you can make sure everything else is packed before the removalists arrive. This will also give you an idea of how much rubbish you have left over, so that you can contact a hands on rubbish Removal Company, such as 1300 Rubbish, to organise a collection.

Don’t let moving house get stressful – 1300 Rubbish can help you.

Rubbish removal is an important part of moving out of a house and running all of your waste down to the tip is a time consuming chore that you can really do without. At 1300 Rubbish we will do this all for you, leaving you to concentrate on more important tasks.

All it takes is one simple phone call and we will send one of our polite and friendly drivers to remove all your household rubbish and take it away there and then. You don’t have to lift a finger and they will even clear up after themselves. Let 1300 Rubbish make moving house easier and call us today for an obligation free quote on 1300 78 22 47.

According to many leading estate agents, people make up their minds as to whether they will be buying a house before they’ve even walked through the door; when it comes to selling houses, first impressions count. Would you look twice at a house that had a broken fence, a jungle for a front garden and old, yellowing blinds hanging in the windows? We didn’t think so.

Welcome to the 1300 Rubbish guide to a stress free move…

Moving house with 1300 Rubbish: Our top tips for a speedy sale.

When it comes to selling your home, you don’t want to spend months having strangers trudging through your house and missing out on your “ideal home” because your current one just won’t sell. The key to a stress free sale is a quick sale so, at 1300 Rubbish, we spoke to some of our local real estate agents for their tips on how to prepare your home before you start viewings.

1.) First Impressions Count – Remove any front yard rubbish.

When selling your house, you need to capture the prospective buyer from the moment they step out of their car. Now is the time to mow that lawn and trade in the overgrown weeds for some new potted plants – real estate experts suggest adding some colour for an extra “wow” factor. (And while you’re practising your gardening skills, have a go at the back yard too.)

We can help strip out your garage to make the most of your outdoor space.

The front windows should be decorated to make the house look more inviting; yellow or tatty curtains and blinds just won’t do. Take them down and replace them with new, clean and simple blinds – they don’t have to be expensive, they just have to make the house look cared for.

Garages can also be a crucial selling point when it comes to your outdoor space. Piles of boxes and broken furniture won’t exactly scream “buy me”; strip out anything that doesn’t need to be there.

At 1300 Rubbish our guys will even do this for you, just point out what needs to go and they’ll load it all into their trucks and take it away there and then. That’s one load off your mind.

2.) De-Clutter – Establishing what you really need and what is rubbish.

Preparing a house for viewings is sometimes called “staging”; the idea is to make the house look like a home, but not one that is lived in, almost like a show home. Nothing that doesn’t need to be on tables should be on tables, likewise for tops of cupboards, mantelpieces and sideboards. De-cluttering doesn’t mean just hiding them away in cupboards either; wardrobes and doors bulging at the hinges will not only look terrible, but will suggest to the buyer that there isn’t enough storage space.

Be brutal – consider everything carefully and don’t be afraid to throw things away. Think realistically if you are ever going to need that back catalogue of gossip magazines or travel brochures; whilst one or two home decorating and gardening magazines on a coffee table can sell a lifestyle, a library of them just look like a mess. Think carefully about what you really need to take to your new house with you and then THROW THE REST AWAY.

Once your clear out is done, you can give us a call at 1300 Rubbish and we’ll come and take away all of that rubbish you’ve just uncovered – before your prospective buyers arrive of course! Depending on availability we aim to be with you within 24 hours and try our best to arrange a time that suits you.

3.) Uncover Original Features – Strip out that old, rubbish carpet.

Some experts suggest replacing old, tatty carpets for simple, neutral coloured carpet before selling your house as it will make rooms look brighter, bigger and cleaner. A cheaper option would be to check the floorboards underneath – are they nice enough to show off? Original features like old wooden floorboards can add value to your house, as well as adding character and giving your house a uniqueness it will need against its competition, so strip out that carpet and uncover that history.

If pulling up a carpet sounds like too much hard work, 1300 Rubbish are specialists in strip outs and can remove the old carpet for you AND take it away at the same time, saving you a potentially messy and time consuming job.

Does moving house sound like a chore? Call 1300 Rubbish today and we’ll come and help take a load off your mind.

After what seems like an entire home renovation to prepare your house for sale, you’re sure to end up with a large amount of various rubbish – old furniture, blinds, curtains, carpets and green waste. 1300Rubbish specialise in hands on rubbish removal and we aim to make your life easier so that you don’t have to worry. All it takes is one simple phone call and we can help you get your house ready for those all important inspections.

Hands on rubbish removal - we will even sweep up afterwards.

At 1300 Rubbish we can clear out garages, strip out carpets, take away your rubbish and even sweep up afterwards, without you having to lift a finger. When it comes to moving house 1300 Rubbish can be with you every step of the way; why not give our office a call for an easy, obligation free quote on 1300 78 22 47.

According to recent research by American Express and RoperASW, high income Australians are among the most stressed in the world. The research reveals that 63% of Australians feel stress at least several times a week – that’s 8% higher than the global average. So what’s happened to that laid back Aussie vibe that this country is so famous for?

Hectic work schedules and problems at the office are the main culprits, but even arriving home can cause stress when you see the pile of housework and DIY you need to get through. This could be the reason why more Australians than ever are turning towards household services, from cleaners to gardeners, to assist them with their household chores. Gone are the days when D.I.Y was a favourite past time, we now prefer to relax and hire others to do the hard work for us – instead of buying paint, we hire a painter, instead of hiring a skip bin, we organise hands on rubbish removal.

Do it yourself skip bin hire vs. feet up rubbish removal.

At 1300 Rubbish, our aim is to take the stresses out of clearing out rubbish – whether its builders waste or just a load of old junk. Hiring a skip bin can be a complicated procedure; first you need to ensure that you have the space to put the skip on your property, then you’ll need all relevant council permits to keep the bin and then after all of that, you’ll have to load the skip bin yourself.

Granted, skip bins do give you the freedom to load your rubbish at your leisure (albeit at an escalating daily rate), and the services skip bin companies offer can suit some rubbish removal jobs, but at 1300 Rubbish we believe in making life as easy as possible for our customers. All it requires is one easy phone call to one of our experienced sales team, who will be able to organise a rubbish collection at a time that suits you. Once a booking has been made, you can put your feet up while one of our team come and load up your rubbish into their van and take it away on the spot – so it doesn’t hang around on your property for days as it would in a skip bin.

Choosing 1300 Rubbish over a skip bin can help the environment too.

At 1300 Rubbish, we are committed to helping the environment and reducing our carbon footprint. We ensure that all of the rubbish we collect is recycled wherever possible in order to save valuable space in landfills.

We are also affiliated with 1800 Ewaste, who specialise in electronic waste collection and recycling. Since their launch 3 years ago, they have diverted over 280 tonnes of hazardous electronic waste from landfill.

Skip the bin, call 1300 Rubbish today.

It’s common knowledge that stress can be relieved by regular exercise or by spending quality time with the family, and at 1300 Rubbish we are trying to give you more time to do the things you enjoy by relieving you of one of life’s many stresses.

So, if you’ve been putting off clearing out that garage for a while now, don’t hesitate to give us a call on 1300 78 22 47, and let us take care of it for you.

I would like to congratulate 1300 Rubbish for its magnificent service recently in removing items which I had stacked in my front courtyard. I need those items removed promptly because I was going into hospital for an operation. The young lady who took my phone call was very pleasant, polite, understanding and very professional in arranging for a trained professional to attend at my house the following day. He removed all my items in a very efficient, friendly and professional manner. His work was of the highest standard. I would have no hesitation in recommending this company to anyone who wants the best in customer service.

Dear 1300Rubbish,

We had done a Spring clean (in Autumn of course) and had big pile of stuff we had been meaning to get rid of for months. It included a big couch, an old bar fridge, big speakers and a bunch of bags filled with old broken toys. It had sat on our back veranda for weeks looking terrible and my wife’s dad offered to help get rid of it. I was dreading the thought of lugging all the junk, loading it, going to the tip and unloading it and all the messing about involved – it was going to end up taking me hours.

We had my sons 7th birthday organised for Sunday, and it was Thursday afternoon and my wife was really not happy about all those guests walking past a great pile of trash in our back yard. I now needed to get rid of it fast.

I contacted 1300Rubbish and arranged a pick-up, they called me 30 min before the pickup and were on time, efficient and very nice to deal with. They even swept up the area the junk had been – fantastic.

I worked out with the time it would have taken me lugging the rubbish, arranging a vehicle that could take that volume of rubbish, then tip fees and the transport time and petrol it would have ended up costing me more to do it myself!!

I can’t recommend you enough and thanks very much for getting it sorted so quick.

Cheers,

Tim
